Our Colonial Ancestors
Each page on our website reflects the importance of our dedication to historic preservation, patriotic service and educational projects to the Dames. The NSCDA is responsible for educating its membership and the American people about the values and principles set forth by our Founding Fathers that shaped our culture and for demonstrating the relevance of America's history of liberty and freedom to a responsible citizenship.
We have 44 Corporate Societies of which the NSCDA in the State of Ohio is one. All 44 are bound together by the Convenant of 1908 requiring that each member coming into the Society have an ancestor from one of the original thirteen colonies.
These men and women came to this new land for all sorts of reasons, but each is known to have contributed to the the well-being of the colonies' citizens in the years leading up to the Revolution..
The Ohio Dames wish to share the stories of those very ancestors they represent:
• Captain Thomas Bull 1605-1684
• Governor John Reading 1686-1758
• Reverend Peter Bulkeley 1583-1659
• Lieutenant William Spencer 1601-1640
• Lieutenant Thomas Sprigg 1630-1704
• Andrew Ward 1597-1659
